My camera has just had it’s sensor cleaned. I was eager to get out and start taking photos again and so last night went to the rocks around Wentworth Street, where a rocky headland separates Bellerive Beach from Howrah Beach. The clouds had closed in and it had become rather overcast which did not fit with my plans for golden sunsets and glowing rocks. However the wind was still making the harbour choppy which brought about some reasonable waterscapes. which feel dark and moody.

Bellerive Rocks
Saturday, February 20th, 2010DeSlacs
Wednesday, January 6th, 2010Cape Deslacs is a favourite spot of a good photo buddy, Alex Wise.I decided to pay the place a visit the other week with the idea of trying to capture motion in the surf with a strong backdrop. Cape Deslacs can be found at the eastern end of Clifton Beach (webcam). Whilst I really like the colours of the surf, sand and sky, the cape itself is lit a bit harshly – I was still a little too early for the true “golden hour“. However I will be heading back again in the near future to redo the photo.

Lake Meadowbank
Thursday, August 20th, 2009Lake Meadowbank is formed by the Meadowbank Hydro development, and is the most downstream of all the power stations on the Derwent scheme. The upper reaches of the lake is quite shallow, and the area photographed has been known to be dry under exceptional summer conditions. Just out of picture is a causeway and single lane bridge, which makes a spectacular crossing on the way to Ellendale & National Park. Grad ND8 + CPF Filters used.
