Reflections - Lindisfarne

Reflections - Lindisfarne

By far the best time to be taking photos of water when you want reflections in Tasmania is autumn and early winter. By the time spring comes around again, the wind is usually prevailing from the north with a sea breeze in the afternoon and through to night. This photo was taken a few years back now in autumn, and I am always thrilled by how glass-like the water was on this day.

Mount Dawson

Mount Dawson

Something a little different today. This is a photo of Mount Dawson in south-west Tasmania, as seen while driving along the lower Florentine forestry roads. I have posted this because it’s a monochrome, and works as a monochrome. I particularly like the textures in the sky. Monochrome photography is a great way to set a mood for an image.

I guess it’s becoming noticeable that I particularly like taking photos of waterfalls. It has been raining for 3 days here, so I have taken the opportunity to go out and take some photos of local waterfalls while there is some water around. This one is of Strickland falls, nearby Fern Tree. Its hard to imagine that this is maybe 15 seconds walk from a major road in the area, Strickland Avenue.

Morning Reflections on Derwent River

Over the next week or so I will be sharing photos taken from a recent photo expedition that saw me head to New Norfolk then along the western side of the Derwent River to Mt Field and back home again crossing Lake Meadowbank at the causeway. This above picture was one of the first photos for the day and as you can see the fog had not quite lifted. I had hoped to come back again later in the afternoon to take the image again, but unfortunately there was not enough time left in the day.
